MLTI iTEAM Conference

Engaging Students and Educators in a Partnership for Learning


The MLTI iTEAM Conference is a chance for educators, students, and community members to come together as a team for learning.
The conference is designed for hands on participation. Students and teachers should bring their MLTI iBooks. Please see more specifications below.

We would like to extend our thanks to the University of Maine at Orono, their Conference Service Division, and especially to the New Media Lab for their help in making this conference possible.



REGISTRATION and PAYMENT

Please register all attending students and adults. We ask that there be one adult present for every five students attending. In order to register you will need participant's first and last name and the Airport address from their iBook. The Airport address is necessary to gain access to the wireless network during the iTEAM Conference. Purpose:
  • To learn to organize and/or improve a student tech team (iTEAM) with students and adults as active participants.
  • To aquire both technological and interpersonal skills for assisting others in the utilization of technology as an educational tool.
  • To make connections with peers and to have fun.

Who Should Attend:

  • Adults interested in iTEAM organization and students interested in/or are already participating in one.
  • Educators, parents, and community members who are interested in learning more about these student organizations and the skills they are learning to utilize.

Logistics:

  • Place- The University of Maine at Orono in D.P. Corbett Business Building, Barrows, and Jenness Halls. The conference "sign in/registration" and opening welcome will occur in the D.P. Corbett Business Building.
  • Time-
    • Registration: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    • Sessions: 9 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Closing and Door Prizes: 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  • Date- May 13th, 2005 
  • Food- Complimentary morning refreshments. Participants may bring their own lunch or purchase one from the UMO cafeteria.
  • Supervision- Please bring one adult for every five students.
  • Parking- Parking passes will be available at the conference check-in. School buses do not need parking passes.

Technical Requirements

  • Teachers and students should bring their MLTI iBooks in order to participate in hands-on sessions.
  • At least one adult should have the school's Admin password in case of difficulties with network connections. If the adult does not know the password already set on the machines, the iBooks going to this event should be configured with a generic admin password for the day. Then when the iBooks are back at school, the school's admin password can be restored by the tech lead.

  • 8-9 a.m.- Registration- D.P. Corbett Business Building
  • 9-9:20 a.m.- Welcome- D.P. Corbett Business Building, room 100
All sessions will be held in Corbett, Barrows, and Jenness Halls. All are located within a short walking distance.
  • 9:30-10:20- Session 1
  • 10:30-11:20- Session 2
  • 11:15-12:15- Lunch
  • 12:10-1:00- Session 3
  • 1:10-2:00- Session 4
  • 2:00-2:20- Closing and Door Prizes- D.P. Corbett Business Building
Other:
  • Certificates of participation will be given to students.
  • Educators will receive 6 contact hours for their participation.
